Subject: INVITATION Economics of Happiness Conference, Portland

Importance: Normal

Dear Cylvia Hayes,

I'm writing on behalf of Local Futures (ISEC), an international non-profit

organization focused on promoting locally based alternatives to the global

consumer culture. We work with groups and initiatives across the world to

revitalize cultural and biological diversity and to strengthen local

communities and economies.

We will be hosting our 4th Economics of Happiness Conference, in Portland,

Oregon and would like to invite you to join us as a speaker. Your

participation, as a leading voice for economic change, would be profoundly

inspiring and motivating for all the participants, other speakers

included.

The gathering will take place at the Eliot Center in downtown Portland

from the afternoon of Friday, February 27th until the evening of Sunday,

the 1st of March, 2015.

I understand from Mary Rowinski that you are not able to make commitments

months in advance of an event. However, if our conference is of interest

to you, we could set-aside a slot in the program for you and wait for

confirmation closer to the date.

Our conferences are a unique melting pot of issues, perspectives and ideas

and have attracted participants of all ages from more than 15 countries so

far. We are expecting up to 500 participants in Portland, as well as an

international line-up of inspiring speakers. We will also stream the event

and put videos of many of the talks online afterwards.

The program will be similar to our previous conferences, held respectively

in Berkeley (US) Byron Bay (Australia) and Bangalore (India), which have

include a mixture of plenaries, workshops and interactive sessions. In the

case of Portland, we're also planning to offer field trips to localization

initiatives in and around the city.

We are partnering with many local organizations on the event and expect it

to offer an ideal opportunity to explore ways to catalyze a shift from

understanding to action, at local and global levels.

We would be truly honored to have you contribute to the conference as one

of our speakers.

Please let me know if you'd like any more information. I hope you can join

us and look forward to hearing from you soon.

Yours sincerely,

Anja Elena Lyngbæk
