Here you go Dear,

I'd like to talk about this tonight.

To Staff Only:

First I want to tell you all that I am very sorrythat by my getting into such a highprofile position without divulging my full past I helped to create such a messfor our campaign and such an assault on the whole administration.

I am really sorry to those of you for whom this generatedso much additional work and stress.

And I wanted to give you an update on where thingsstand.

The General Statement:

I believe spiritually any time a mess this bigpresents itself in one’s life, whether by their current actions, their pastactions, outside forces, or a combination of those, there is an opportunity forgrowth and self-awareness. I said rightafter all of this blew up and my past was made public that I was taking somepersonal time to process and reflect on this situation. I have been doing exactly that, undergoingintensive counseling around unhealed childhood traumas and really examining howthose experiences have affected my life and continue to shape my currentbehaviors and feelings.

As for my work, currently I am not engaged in policy-relatedwork in the administration. I am beginningto resume my First Lady work on issues related to poverty and at-riskyouth. And I am continuing my clean economywork – primarily writing and speaking – outside of the administration as along-standing, but currently unpaid, professional. To be clear, in an effort to avoid even theappearance of impropriety, I had already decided to forego paid work back in thefall of 2013 and have had no paying clients in 2014.

What future role I may undertake in ouradministration is unclear as I await the review by the Oregon Government EthicsCommission. Their ruling is expected inmid-March.

In addition, I am being very thoughtful about howand where I want to contribute my time and expertise going forward. I have worked hard to make a positivecontribution to our state but, given all the media and political attacks, I amnot sure that this is the venue from which I can make my biggestcontribution. My work to try to create ahealthier, more sustainable and fair economy is a primary focus of my life andI want to be able to be as effective as possible in doing that work. I am taking time to think very deeply abouthow best to go about that.

Love,

C
