Importance: Normal
I resonate with Mike and all who have responded...all are valid, worthy, good, etc.
Due to time crunch, costs, and perhaps my interest in keeping people focused on the GC and it's layers of meaning here, here's my 2c:
1. A half day event at a location that is no cost b/c it is a public service event, not a fundraiser. A local high school, synagogue/church might be a great venue; a school might like the idea if we make a point of inviting their k-12 educators, and perhaps high schoolers to attend.
2. We skype in a few of our Gulf Coast friends who can give us salient updates, personal reflections. If this can be projected on a big screen, we might feel up close and more personal than in person, not to mention no cost.
3. We set up info tables around the perimeter offering concrete action items.
4. Still offer CEs to educators.
5. If we do go with a half day, the updates need to make room for quick takes on how various pops can get involved, I.e., how educators can integrate this in the classroom, how this relates to mental health / justice issues if you market mhps, etc.
6. I can always get GFU Portland for free, but we're limited to a group of 110, but we also have break out rooms. Problem is the building is booked... I checked last week as I had a small feeling we'd run into this dilemma.
Just ideas...
Thanks all,
Anna
