I am excited about your commitment to keep the hunger problem forefront in the minds of Oregonians while working with us to address both immediate needs and long=term solutions. I have a feeling we could overwhelm you with information, but thought a preview of I am OFB’s current five-year strategic plan, which runs through 2012 might help you get a sense of how OFB fits into the Task Force Act to End Hunger. We haven’t changed goal 2 (reduce OR hunger rate as measured by USDA Food Insecurity Survey) although the shift in the economy makes that goal seem like a pipe dream these days, and our influence minimal. We are exploring other measures of the impact of our public policy and food security programs in addressing the gaps in service in the meantime. One problem with the USDA data is it is a three-year average that is a year old when it is released. I look forward to seeing you next week. I have confirmed Ryan and Karla for the 11 a.m. meeting. I have a message out to both to see if they can join us for the Task Force legislative breakfast/meeting as well.

Best,

Rachel

Dear Cylvia,

Thank you so much for your interest in tackling such an important and foundational problem. I am eager to meet with you and share our work, which is linked to Oregon Food Bank--they have been important members of the Task Force over the years. Sue Marshall had indicated you would be in touch.

Amy Green forwarded me your email--my name was missing the i so didn't come through, just FYI for corresponding in the future

As it turns out, we will be hosting a Legislative meeting on the morning of February 10 at 9 am. I have attached a save the date and would love to have you attend.

The Task Force had planned to reconvene its regular meeting at 10:15-12 noon. This would be a tremendous opportunity for the members to join you and the Governor for the 11 am meeting to discuss how we can work together to impact hunger now and in the future.

I invite you to look at our website and, in particular, our new 5 year plan "Ending Hunger Before it Begins: Oregon's Call to Action": www.oregonhunger.org.

I look forward to hearing back from you soon. Patti Whitney-Wise
